This 6 week course will teach you basic obedience, how your dog learns, how to read your dogs body language and ensure s/he is socialised correctly. You and your dog will learn a variety of attention, stay, recall and lead handling exercises, sit, down, leave, appropriate toy play and drop, all in 6 weeks!

This course is designed to take your training out and about. This is a perfect follow on from the intermediate life skills course. Taking the training out into the real world we will work on road skills, heel-work around distractions, recall, distance control and self-control around distractions. 

 

Please note: You must have attended intermediate life skills (or a similar course somewhere else) to attend this. 

 

We meet at Chalfont Community Centre. This is off Amersham Road, just out of Chalfont St Peter (entrance by the Ambulance station).

WED 29 JAN 2020 | DOG CLUB - PICK N' MIX | 4 WEEKS (OUTDOOR)

Dog Club - Pick n' Mix | hosted by The Wheelhouse Dog Training School & Minds Alike

 

This 4 week course is for those who are hooked with the training bug, or for those dogs that just won’t ever tire! An ideal follow on from the intermediate or for those dogs who have done plenty of training previously.  This course continues to work on your obedience and handling skills, but also dips into gundog training, pre-agility exercises, tricks and distance work. 

 

Each lesson will start with group work - working on obedience basics around distractions, followed by: 

 

Week 1: Fun obedience - We will work on static and moving obedience exercises including sit, down, stand in a variety of positions, various stay exercises, leave work and recall and heel-work, incorporating distractions. 

Week 2: Rally-obedience - Rally is a a fun obedience sport and involves you and your dog working as a team to navigate a course with numbered signs indicating different exercises to perform; think of it as a sort of 'obedience exercise obstacle course' including  heelwork, turns, static exercises e.g. sit/down/stand, leave, recall, stay, jump, hold and drop.

Week 3: Agility - Have a go at some basic agility, building your dogs confidence with small jumps, tunnels and directional cues. 
 
Week 4: Gun dog - Here we will work on distance control, heel-work, hold and drop, and a variety of retrieve exercises.

This 4 week course is for those who are hooked with the training bug, or for those dogs that just won’t ever tire! An ideal follow on from the intermediate or for those dogs who have done plenty of training previously.  This course continues to work on your obedience and handling skills, but also dips into gundog training, pre-agility exercises, tricks and distance work. 

 

Each lesson will start with group work - working on obedience basics around distractions, followed by: 

 

Week 1: Fun obedience - We will work on static and moving obedience exercises including sit, down, stand in a variety of positions, various stay exercises, leave work and recall and heel-work, incorporating distractions. 

 

Week 2: Rally-obedience - Rally is a a fun obedience sport and involves you and your dog working as a team to navigate a course with numbered signs indicating different exercises to perform; think of it as a sort of 'obedience exercise obstacle course' including heelwork, turns, static exercises e.g. sit/down/stand, leave, recall, stay, jump, hold and drop.

 

Week 3: Agility - Have a go at some basic agility, building your dogs confidence with small jumps, tunnels and directional cues.

 

Week 4: Gun dog - Here we will work on distance control, heel-work, hold and drop, and a variety of retrieve exercises.
